Pre prepared whiteboards were used mainly for OLRC 2011 & 2012 courses to evaluate the effect on the efficiency of the classes. This evaluation will continue and may be extended to Foundation 2013 & 2014 courses as well. While usage of slide shows is quite common for some parts of theory, in application oriented classes where a large number of problem solving is involved and in some other classes involving long derivations in theory, the whiteboard files can be used to save the time spent on extensive writing during the class.

2 Study material files have been uploaded and 2 online tests have been activated in the concerned courses.

On technology front, the new version of VLE continues to be under testing. Meanwhile, Chrome browser support has been added to the online rich text editor in current VLE. Firefox still is the recommended browser for current VLE.

While most class recordings in the current academic year are < 20 MB size each, a few recordings nearly touched 100 MB in recent days. Also, while most recordings actually embed the actual virtual classroom, a few recordings in some courses were provided in .wmv format which can be played in many smartphones as well. Smartphones can be good for eLearning as one can attempt online tests, read some documents, can play some types of multimedia files and can even obtain some type of live streaming reception from virtual classroom. 1 Study material file (primary) has been uploaded along with some extended material activation from the same topic and 4 online tests have been activated in the concerned course(s).
